Exterior Design & Features
Kia Sportage Exterior
It’s all about the sport style when it comes to the Sportage, a bold design that wraps up all of its advanced tech inside of a vehicle body that is aerodynamic and stylish. Coming in a bit shorter than the Rogue and thus a little bit more compact, the Sportage truly shines over tight city driving where free space to maneuver is paramount.
Nissan Rogue Exterior
Badly in need of a redesign, the Rogue got it for its new 2021 model year. Redesigned for this new generation, while it’s still a compact SUV it gives off the look and design of a vehicle much larger. The box-type style that Nissan went for is more reminiscent of a truck or larger SUV frame, which undercuts some of its compact nature.

Performance & Capability
Kia Sportage Performance
The Sportage and Rogue engines are neck-and-neck on their standard levels, but that’s not all the Sportage has to offer. The top-level SX trim of the Sportage comes with an upgraded engine, the 2.0L Turbo GDI 4-cylinder, pumping out an exhilarating 237 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. To round off the package, Dynamax Intelligent All-Wheel Drive ensures you can conquer the road, whether on a track or slippery roads.
Nissan Rogue Performance
This level of power and performance is what you get with the Rogue, across every trim. Only the 2.5L DOHC 16-valve Direct Injection Gasoline 4-cylinder engine comes standard, with no higher trim upgrade engines available currently. Thankfully, it does have all-wheel drive as an option, so you can still make up for that lack of power by being confident over treacherous terrain.

Kia Sportage Safety
The safety tech in the Sportage is built around a few highlights that showcase the forward-thinking nature of the vehicle. Forward Collision Avoidance Assist warns of collisions, Blind Spot Detection lets you know what’s in your blind spot and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert notifies you of incoming traffic from the rear when backing out. UVO Intelligence puts safety inthe palm of your hands with important vehicle info and remote services linked from your device to your vehicle.
Nissan Rogue Safety
Nissan puts a heavy onus on safety as well, with a variety of tech systems at the driver’s disposal. ProPILOT Assist helps you navigate your drive, the Intelligent Around View Monitor aides in parking through visual help, while the Safety Shield 360 includes a suite of drive and safety assist systems.
Kia Sportage vs. Nissan Rogue Verdict
The 2021 Kia Sportage starts at $25,795 and the 2021 Nissan Rogue starts at $28,498. These are two incredibly similar crossovers, with a lot in common, especially when it comes down to the connective and safety tech. What ends up separating the two, though, is a couple big factors: performance and exterior design. The Rogue lacks in performance potential and provides a middling drive with the power it has, compared to the Sportage’s true top sport performance trim. While redesigned for 2021, the new Rogue is a lot more box-y, like a large SUV, than the much more athletic and nimble Sportage design. It’s a close race, and may come down to your preferences, but the 2021 Kia Sportage can satisfy any performance need, and does so in its can’t-beat style!
